Considered one the greatest talents of opera, with a career that includes performances in the world’s major theatres, Juan Diego Florez (Lima, 1973) generates ecstatic reactions with his refined vocal technique and dazzling and endless resources. Since the age of 23, when he substituted the legendary American tenor Bruce Ford as Corradino in Matilde di Shabran at the 1966 Rossini Festival in Pésaro, the world’s most important theatres compete to have the Peruvian singer at their venues.
His innumerable awards and acknowledgements include the Abbiati Prize awarded by Italian critics, Rossini ďOro, Tamagno Prize, Opus Klassik, Gran Cruz de la Orden del Sol –the highest distinction granted in Peru–, the title of “Kammersänger” granted by the Austrian Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the State Opera of Vienna, and being declared the best light lyric tenor of all times by Plácido Domingo.
His generosity, charisma and passion also inspire his multiple philanthropic activities.
