Twangero has finally released the second volume of Carreteras secundarias, a singular alnum recorded in the jungle of Costa Rica, successor to a first volume considered Best World Music record at the 2018 MIN Awards. Diego García ‘Twanguero’ has moved closer to the sounds of Latin America; a journey that maintains echoes of blues and ragtime that link the ports of New Orleans and Limon (Costa Rica) and of the ayahuasca ceremonies. Winner of a Latin Grammy with Diego El Cigala in 2013 and nominated to the 2020 Goya for his work on the sound track of Buried, by Rodrigo Cortés, Diego García is a revolutionary of the guitar and one of Spain’s most active artists, who records and plays with other major artists, including Calamaro, Fito Páez, Santiago Auserón and Bunbury. Indeed, the Twangero style, recognised internationally due to the particular twang sound of the six strings, oscillates between Spanish guitar, flamenco, tango and an impeccable command of fingerpicking, as well as the mixture Latin rhythms with American sounds in the wake of Santana and Ry Cooder.
