Toquinho, as one of the major singers, composers and guitarists of popular Brazilian and Latin American music, has had a brilliant career during which he has been part of iconic collaborations such as La Fusa, together with Vinicius de Moraes (with whom he composed 120 songs, brought together in 25 albums over  11 years) and Maria Creuza, along with other legends from Rio de Janeiro such as Jobim, Chico Buarque, Marcos Vella, Jorge Ben Jor and Elis Reina. His technique and sensitivity are well known and applauded all over the world beyond the borders of rhythms and languages, and he continues to receive numerous acknowledgements, the last being the 2021 Latin Grammy for Best Instrumental Album (duo with Yamandu Costa).
Toquinho is returning to the Cervantes Theatre (he was here for the 2012 Terral) to go over his most emblematic repertoire –‘Tarde en Itapõa’, ‘Corcovado’, ‘Chega de Saudade’, ‘Eu sei que voi te amar’, ‘Garota de Ipanema’, ‘Que maravilha’, ‘Acuarela’, ‘A Tonga da Mironga do Kabuletê’– and demonstrate that he is alive, along with popular Brazilian music, jazz and bossa and that they are all in good health.
