The commemoration of a forgotten battle brings together the remaining soldiers of a troop. They are hardly distinguishable from the phantoms they evoke: those who were buried with the fear and the glory of the trenches. They seem definitely defeated by time; nonetheless, they have not abandoned the hope of performing the last glorious feat. At their annual meeting they plan an assault against the government, They dream of revenge that will put an end to injustice, ambitions, rivalries.
In the exploration of the limits within which La Zaranda always works, in this case it moves between elegiac laments and farce, constituting a stark allegory of current affairs with a sense of humour.
The charismatic and legendary company La Zaranda was founded in in 1978 in Jerez de la Frontera. In 2010 it was awarded the National Theatre Award “for its capacity to blend committed staging and a global text which connects with the Iberian tradition of the grotesque ".
