MANUEL GALIANA, DUENDE ZAHORI PRIZE AWARDED BY FRIENDS OF THE THEATER OF TORRELAVEGA

Ojos de niebla tells the story of Edward II’s irrepressible love for Hugo LeDespenser, the  resentment of his wife Queen Isabella, humiliated by the love she is denied by her husband, the hatred of Mortimer, Baron of Wigmore, that  pushes him to win the Queen’s heart  in his obsession to possess something more than the Crown, the intrigues of the Catholic Church to increase its power and crown kings who are faithful to its objectives, the ambitions of a Jewish banker willing to lend money to friends and foes in order to make money, the struggle between two religions to remain in the shadow of the powerful..
The play’s most important aspect is perhaps its relevance for the present: the Church continues to condemn homosexual love, religions continue to disseminate fanaticism and pain all over the world, and the will of nations is subject more than ever to the power of money.” Alfredo Cernuda
