Ring, ring, cuénteme is based on Cuentos por teléfono (Stories over the phone), one of the best known books of Italian writer and pedagogue Gianni Rodari. The show is an adaptation of some of the latter’s most significant stories, woven by a mother who is a travel journalist and spends a lot of time away from home due to her job. Every night she calls her daughter to tell her about the strange countries she visits (The country with “des” in front, The country with the butter men, The country of dogs… ); stories that hold a precise and committed vision of the world.
Founded in 2016 with the show for children about healthy food La habichuela Isabela, the company Trastapillada, which is from Madrid, acquired renown in 2020 with Ring, ring, cuénteme. Its last production, Rumbo Rodari, by Ángel Martín Rizaldos, which was premiered at Teatralia 2022, deals with the manner in which the author would have portrayed the crazy times of the pandemic by means of an amusing exercise of the imagination.
