A century later, the copla is still alive in the voices of many artists and poets, and in the memory of our elders. Diana Navarro, defender of musical traditions, invites us on a journey of sounds from the simplicity of the piano to the most surprising fusion, demonstrating once again that the copla is timeless.
After her great success as an actress representing Concha Piquer at the Teatro Español in Madrid, the actress from Malaga wanted to pay tribute to Piquer and the musical genre she represented by performing the latter’s most iconic songs, as well as other less popular ones, to allow younger generations to know this singer and have her as a reference. Concha Piquer, among many other achievements in the course of her career, was the first Spanish actress to perform on Broadway, at the age of 14, and the first actress of sound films in the world.
‘Ojos verdes’, ‘No te mires en el río’, ‘Romance de la otra’, ‘En tierra extraña’, ‘Tatuaje’, ‘Me embrujaste’, ‘Se dice’, ‘No me llames Dolores’, ‘Campanera’… in the purest Navarro style.
Diana Navarro, singer, composer and actress, is an artist in constant evolution who has specialised in traditional Spanish music, merging copla, saeta, flamenco and zarzuela with very different styles such as symphonic pop and electronic music. She has had a successful career for more than 15 years, with critics and audiences acclaiming her artistic quality and extraordinary talent.
